Your first year isn’t just about learning skills; it’s about shaping your identity as a firefighter. Are you dependable? Are you engaged? Are you locked in, even when no one’s watching? When you treat everything like it matters, you earn trust. You build credibility. You prove day in and day out that you’re here for the right reasons and that you’re willing to do the work because in this job, details don’t just make the difference, they are the difference.
