#19 Peer-To-Peer Leadership
Leading peers is one of the most underestimated challenges in the fire department. Unlike leading subordinates, where rank provides a clear framework for authority and accountability, peer leadership can demand different skills. Lateral influence requires you to know when to step up and take initiative without overstepping unwritten boundaries, how to challenge a fellow firefighter's decision without damaging the relationship, and how to inspire ownership in someone who owes you nothing by rank. Mastering peer-to-peer leadership isn't optional; it is necessary for both fire officers and firefighters.
Be a LEGENDARY LEADER. Don’t FAIL on the FIREGROUND or in the FIREHOUSE, learn the skills to SUCCEED as a LEADER.
