Peacetime Doesn’t Excuse Weakness

Peacetime Doesn’t Excuse Weakness
“We don’t go to fires anymore.”
You’ve heard it. Around the kitchen table. In the gym. In the cab.
Sometimes it’s just whining.
But sometimes, it’s an excuse.
An excuse to stop training.
An excuse to carry a bad attitude.
An excuse to stop earning it.
Listen.
We’re not always at war either.
But no one says we don’t need the best military in the world.
We take comfort in their strength.
Because when the day comes — and it always does —
we don’t want to play catch-up.
We want the right people.
Ready.
Capable.
Ruthless.
During peacetime, the military represents one thing:
protection.
They train. They sacrifice. They stay sharp.
Not because there’s a war —
but because there might be one.
And when it hits…
they don’t have time to warm up.
Neither do we.
“Good.” – Jocko Willink
Good.
More time to get better.
Because when it’s time to go —
there is no excuse for incompetence.
Good enough is not good enough.
